Manmad is the third largest town in the state of Maharashtra. It is a major town with a population of nearly 1,25, 000 people. The town is larger in area compared to most of the tehsils in the district but is still not termed as one.
Largest food storage godowns in Asia, offices of Food Corporation Of India, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil are in Manmad. The town is famous being one of the largest onion producing localities after Lasalgaon. Onions are exported to various big cities and towns in the entire country from Manmad.
Manmad houses the central railway engineering workshop for more than hundred years. The workshop looks after the functioning of steel structural items and is responsible for construction and maintenance of the railway bridges all over the country. More than a thousand people are employed in this engineering workshop in Manmad.
Manmad has brilliant connectivity to cities like Pune, Mumbai, and Hyderabad through railways as there are a lot of direct trains available from here. Works are in progress to develop railway lines that will connect Manmad to Indore and Navapur.
The city has a lot of real estate development going on due to excellent connectivity and social infrastructure. Various known builders have seen the potential of the town and are developing a lot of residential and commercial projects in Manmad.
